miR-155 Regulates Photoperiod Induced Gonadal Development in Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar) by Targeting Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor

چکیده

This study was designed to explore the impact of photoperiod on gonadal development and somatic growth Atlantic salmon raised in recirculating aquaculture systems (RASs), with specific focus role that microRNA (miR)-155 plays as a regulator salmon’s photoperiodic reproduction. These were reared for 5 months under six different regimens, including two changing photoperiods (LL–SL = 24L:0D–8L:16D SL–LL 8L:16D–24L:0D) four constant (24L:0D, 18L:6D, 12L:12D, 8L:16D). The longer groups 24L:0D) ultimately associated higher gonadosomatic index (GSI) values an increased proportion mature fish relative other exposure groups, indicating positively impacted RAS environments. Hypothalamic miR-155 expression these also found be influenced by photoperiod, showing markedly decreased exposed long upregulation following rearing short photoperiod. Functionally, suppress axis-related genes, FSH GnRH, through its ability target brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) thereby regulate Overall, results suggested could gonad miRNA-155 being involved this process targeting BDNF.

Distribution Th e species’ range encompasses Europe, North America, and Green land (1) (Fig.1). Non-anadromous forms occur in Europe in a few land-locked locations in Norway and Sweden, and throughout the Neva/Lake Ladoga system and Karelia regions of Russia. In North America non-anadromous forms occurred throughout most of the species’ historical range, as far west as Lake Ontario, and remain ...

Immunoglobulin Isotypes in Atlantic Salmon, Salmo Salar

There are three major immunoglobulin (Ig) isotypes in salmonid fish: IgM, IgD and IgT, defined by the heavy chains μ, δ and τ, respectively. As a result of whole genome duplication in the ancestor of the salmonid fish family, Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) possess two highly similar Ig heavy chain gene complexes (A and B), comprising two μ genes, two δ genes, three intact τ genes and five τ pseu...

Lysozyme transgenic Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.)

Disease outbreaks are a major constraint to salmon aquaculture worldwide. Therefore, there is considerable interest in ¢nding means to alleviate this problem by enhancing their innate immune system. Because lysozyme is an important component of this system, we generated a line of transgenic Atlantic salmon using a gene construct consisting of a rainbow trout lysozyme gene under the control of t...

Photoperiod manipulation can stimulate or inhibit pubertal testis maturation in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar)

Early puberty affects in particular males in commercially farmed European fin-fish species, resulting in reduced growth and feed conversion, and the potential problem of unwanted genetic impacts on wild stocks. Controlling photoperiod can be an effective way to prevent early sexual maturation. Combining national and international resources provided the means to embark on a research program to i...
